Digital-to-Analog Conversion (DAC) Earphones from the 100 Yen Shop
The term "DAC" (Digital-to-Analog Converter) refers to a device or function that converts digital audio signals into analog audio signals. As I was searching for earphones at the 100 Yen Shop to enable me to watch web seminars on my PC that I always carry with me, I came across a Type-C earphone with a DAC chip for 400 yen. I couldn't help but be impressed by the technological advancements and Chinese power to produce low-cost products when I saw that a DAC had been miniaturized and integrated into the cord of a 100 Yen shop earphone. I used to build my own DACs and connect them to my laptop's speakers.
I immediately tried listening to music on my laptop using the earphones. The sound was clear and free of harshness, and it seemed like the noise was well-controlled. The left and right channels were well-separated, and the audio sounded enhanced and crisp. I wonder if the DAC chip is optimized for earphones. I didn't expect much from these earphones, but they are surprisingly comfortable to listen to, so I think I'll be using them quite often. I suppose the sound will settle into its natural state once the new diaphragm of the earphones has run-in.
